# Tyler Firsts > Firsts and beginnings from Tyler, Texas, filed one to a card. Each card is dated as exactly as its sources allow, tells the story plainly, and lists the sources it came from. Tyler Firsts is a drawer of 165 index cards on Tyler, Texas, from 1846 to 2025: 54 firsts, 20 claimed firsts and 91 beginnings. A card is a first only when its source says first; a claimed first is one a claimant or a single named source makes, and the card names whose word it is; a beginning is a dated start the source does not call a first. Every card shows its date as exactly as the source gives it (approximate dates as "ca.", "?" or a decade; "n.d." for none), a short plain account built from the checked claim, a note where sources disagree, and the sources with the words quoted from them; each line below names the card's primary fact in the shared fact file (@tm/core). The first facts were checked on 2026-09-29; the research pass that added most of the cards, on 2026-10-15. 23 cards carry an archive picture, each credited on its card and on /credits. It is an independent project by Tyler Sites (https://tylersites.com); it is not affiliated with the City of Tyler. ## Cards (oldest first) - [Smith County’s commissioners’ court meets for the first time](https://firsts-ruby.vercel.app/firsts/commissioners-court-first-meets-1846): FIRST, 1846.
