City Hall, the first building to hold all the city’s offices
Tyler City Hall at 212 North Bonner Avenue, completed in 1938, was the first building to house all of the city’s administrative offices, which had been scattered among commercial buildings downtown.
Shirley Simons Sr. designed it, and A.M. Campbell & Company built it for $87,434 with a 1938 Public Works Administration grant.
Note
The city’s National Register documentation calls it “the 1937-38 Tyler City Hall,” and the downtown nomination says it was completed in 1938 in one place and built in 1939 in another.
