Smith County’s commissioners’ court meets for the first time
Smith County was marked off from the Nacogdoches District in July 1846, and its commissioners’ court was elected and met for the first time before the end of that year.
Note
April 11, 1846, is the day the legislature created the county; July 1846 is when it was marked off from the Nacogdoches District. They are two steps, not two answers.
