Gustavo Ramirez, as of 2019 the only Hispanic elected to the council
KETK reported in October 2019 that Gustavo Ramirez was the only Hispanic ever elected to the Tyler City Council, and in June 2021, relaying a local activist’s case for new districts, that the city had not had a Hispanic council member for nearly four decades.
Note
Neither story gives his years in office. “Only” is KETK’s word, as of October 2019.
