Tyler Civic Theatre opens a building for theatre in the round

In 1951 Tyler Civic Theatre opened what it calls the nation’s first building built specifically for theatre in the round.

The theatre traces back to the Tyler Little Theatre of 1927, which stopped during World War II and was revived as Tyler Civic Theatre in 1949.

A 2007 KLTV report says the theatre center houses two theatres in the round, the Braithwaite and the Rogers Children’s Theatre.
