The railroad puts its shops and hospital in Tyler
In 1879 the Texas and St. Louis Railway acquired the Tyler Tap and located its machine shops and hospital in Tyler, and the Kansas and Gulf Short Line, founded the following year, also put its shops there.
Note
Another Handbook of Texas entry says the Tyler Tap was renamed the Texas and St. Louis Railway on May 14, 1879, by an amendment to its charter, rather than acquired.
